CEO & Board Chair

Bettina helped launch EFM and joined the company as CEO in 2008. Bettina has spent the past 30 years working to promote economic viability, social equity, and environmental health in the Pacific Northwest with a particular focus on forestry. A former vice president of Ecotrust’s Natural Capital Fund and commercial banker, Bettina has over 30 years of experience in banking, impact investing, and fund management. She also has significant expertise in ecosystem service markets, particularly the forest carbon market, where she is involved in developing protocols for forest carbon projects at the state and federal levels. Previously, Bettina was Vice President at Ecotrust for forestry programs and for the Natural Capital Fund, a fund which invests in key businesses and initiatives in the conservation economy. Prior to joining Ecotrust in 1993, she was a vice president and commercial lender at First Interstate Bank of Oregon. Bettina has an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Chris Sweeney

Chris leads the day-to-day operations of the Management Company and its Funds including finance, accounting, tax, valuation, financial reporting, investor reporting, compliance and office operations. He has 30 years of experience in the financial services and investment industry most recently as Chief Operating Officer at Prime Buchholz, an institutional investment advisor headquartered in the greater Boston area. Prior to Prime Buchholz, Chris served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of World Learning, Inc., a global education organization, and held several executive roles at State Street Global Advisors and State Street Corporation. Chris started his career in the Boston office of KPMG as a Manager in the banking and capital markets audit practice. Chris has an MBA from Boston University and a BA from the University of Vermont.

Managing Director, Business Development

Amrita joined EFM in 2011 and is a member of EFM’s management team. In this role, she shapes the company’s growth and impact investment strategies managing new product development, fund structuring and investor recruitment. Additionally, as a member of the investment committee, she contributes to property sourcing, transaction structuring, conservation finance, and carbon project development. Prior to EFM, Amrita was an Assistant Manager with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Singapore for 5 years and she subsequently cultivated a passion for financing the growth of environmental business while working for Piper Jaffray’s clean-tech banking group. Her love for forests began during a stint in Indonesia where she helped develop a carbon project on 200,000 hectares of pristine tropical peat forest. Amrita is a Fellow of the Erb Institute and graduated from the University of Michigan with an MBA and an MS in Natural Resources.

Alex joined EFM in 2022 and leads the EFM Investor Relations team. Alex shapes the company’s marketing and communications strategies, raising new capital and managing relationships with existing investors. Prior to EFM, Alex was the Vice President of Investor Relations at Iroquois Valley Farmland REIT, an organic farmland private equity company. Alex has an MBA from Babson College and a BS from Columbia University.

Darin Stringer

Darin Stringer

Stewardship Forester

Stewardship Forester

Darin brings over 20 years of silviculture and restoration forestry systems expertise to EFM as the company’s Stewardship Forester. In this role, he is the architect of EFM's forest management plan, and he supervises the management and stewardship of all Fund properties including oversight of contractors and consultants. He has worked extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond to develop innovative forest management systems for clients ranging from local land trusts to the U.S Forest Service International Programs. He brings a wide range of forestry experience to EFM including forest inventory and cruising, alternative silvicultural systems, and restoration of declining and sensitive forestlands. Darin has an M.S. in Forest Ecology and Silviculture from Oregon State University and a B.S. from the University of Oregon in Political Science. Recently he has served as an advisor to a US AID funded project to restore the cedars of Lebanon.

Teresa Kubo

Conservation Program Manager

Teresa brings over 20 years of experience in the natural resource sector. She has worked on issues across the Pacific Northwest, from the forests of the intermountain west to the Pacific coast, including 19 years at the Environmental Protection Agency where she represented EPA in the Regional Ecosystem Office implementing the Northwest Forest Plan, managed the EPA Region 10 Forest Team, and collaborated with other state and federal agencies on the development of land management plans and projects through the NEPA process. She was a founding member of the Drinking Water Providers Partnership, which seeks to deliver watershed restoration to source water watersheds, and she brings experience in coastal issues, having represented EPA on the Board of the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership. Teresa is also a specialist in environmental review and has worked with USAID to teach classes in environmental review and assessment to governments across Central America, including El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Costa Rica. Teresa has undergraduate degrees in Spanish and International Studies and a Master of Science in Forest Resources from the University of Idaho.

Controller

Angelo joined EFM in 2025 and holds the title of Controller. His focus is on the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the Management Company and its Funds, assisting the COO with finance, accounting, tax, valuation, financial reporting, investor reporting, compliance and office operations. He has 13 years of experience in fund management and accounting. His recent jobs include Engagement Manager for a large fund administration company, Finance Director for a real estate investment firm, and Controller for a fund manager focused on sustainable investing. Angelo has a master’s degree in finance from Portland State University, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Oregon University. Angelo also holds a CPA license.

Financial Analyst

Olivia joined EFM in 2023 and serves the team as a Financial Analyst. Olivia assists in constructing and analyzing financial models, assembling financial reporting, and coordinating with the Investor Relations team in processing financial documentation for new investors. Before joining EFM, Olivia gained experience as an intern and analyst for a family office after receiving her Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Portland in 2021. Olivia is currently pursuing her Masters in Finance at Portland State University.

Accounting Manager

Riley joined EFM in 2021 and holds the title of Accounting Manager, serving the company as an assistant Controller. She assists with billing, account management, tax planning, and maintaining the accuracy of our financial records. Riley received her bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in Accountancy, while she gained experience interning for a local firm preparing tax returns and holding the position of Treasurer in various social clubs. Riley is currently in the process of pursuing her CPA license in the State of Oregon.

Investor Relations and Operations Associate

Colette supports administrative operations for investors, including document and reporting preparation and distribution, so investors and partners can expect to receive regular contact from her. She brings administrative experience from an RIA serving high net worth individuals and families, and applies that attention to detail to her operative functions at EFM. She also brings marketing agency and sales experience to the Investor Relations department, serving interested new investors and creating and managing informational assets. She was an early intern for Chasing Coral, a documentary film following the rush to capture the 2014-2017 global mass bleaching event sequence in long-exposure format, which highlighted and illustrated the escalation of ocean warming and its consequences.

Colette holds Bachelor's degrees from Boston University in Communications and French.
