The Future of Forestry

We believe climate-smart strategies are the future of real asset investing.

EFM believes commercial forests are worth more than timber. EFM has spent two decades demonstrating that FSC-certified, sustainable forest management can deliver competitive financial returns while improving biodiversity, water quality, and carbon storage.

Our work is supported by mission-aligned investors through commingled funds and separate accounts. EFM acquires forestland with unique environmental and social values and manages it to FSC® standards—the global benchmark for responsible forestry.

EFM has acquired more than 200,000 acres of forestland and has approximately $490 million of assets under management and advisement. EFM’s climate-smart approach diversifies the revenue streams from forests to include carbon credits and conservation easements alongside revenue from traditional forest products. It allows forest management choices that rebuild timber stocks, produce higher-value logs, and deliver lasting climate, social, and ecological benefits, including salmon habitat restoration, recreational opportunities, non-timber products, tribal cultural harvesting, and enhanced carbon storage. We have been pioneering this alternative approach to commercial forestland investment and management since 2005.
